AVCHD is a format for the recording and playback of high definition video. The format has been jointly developed by Sony and Panasonic. AVCHD (AVC-HD, AVC HD) utilizes MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVC) video compression codec and Dolby AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio compression codec. The video that shot by AVCHD camcorder is in MTS format, but when import onto computer it become m2ts. MTS and M2TS makes no difference.

iMovie'08 and Final Cut Pro(FCP)(6.0) can play and edit AVCHD files only with camcorders in using MPEG-2 (standard definition) and AVCHD (high definition) formats .
