Functions on popular QuickTime components
Do you have such experience? You loaded an mov file into QuickTime player, but you just can’t open it, no matter how hard you try. At first you thought maybe the file was broken. When put on another Mac, it can be played fluently. Some common sense told you that you should download some popular plug-ins or components and run your QuickTime player again. Succeeded? Not always.
The most popular components on market are Perian and Flip4Mac. Here we will discuss both of it.
Perian is an open source plug-in which enables QuickTime to play several popular video formats not supported natively by QuickTime on Mac OS X, i.e. AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, GVI, VP6, and VFW.
If your mov file is still on strike, try to uninstall your old QuickTime Version and download the latest one QuickTime 7.6.
Flip4Mac is for watching Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) directly in QuickTime Player and viewing Windows Media content on the Internet using a Web browser. It’s not suitable for playing a mov file.
Maybe some other will recommend you alter a player, such as VLC. It is a highly portable multimedia player and multimedia framework capable of reading most audio and video formats as well as DVDs, Audio CDs VCDs, and various streaming protocols. Most users will also find it just as handy as QuickTime.
